Introduction

What is the connection between a dowry for three young women in Turkey and our tradition of hanging socks on the fireplace?

Warm-O-Rama

No warm o rama, just a long walk

The Thang

Some good 2nd F time was had on an exploration of the usual Tomahawk Creek path; once we got to Mission, we stayed on the streets back to Rowe and got back on the trail back to the cars. YHC could see steam coming off his back during the wrap up.

Circle of Trust

Continued prayers for the friend of Snowden, metastatic pancreatic cancer.
Continued prayers for anyone affected by Covid; prayers for the pandemic to end.

Prayers for any and all who lost loved ones over the past year, this year, Christmas won’t be the same for them.

Naked Man Moleskin

Nicholas was bishop of Myra in what is now Turkey. According to legend, he heard about three sisters who did not have any money for a dowry, and would not be able to get married. He went to their house, through gold nuggets through the window; the nuggets landed in their stockings that were hung by the fireplace to dry. The girls were able to have dowries and lived happily ever after.
Growing up, we would put our shoes on the fireplace on December 6. St Nick would put walnuts, candy canes, and tangerines in them. I always remember tangerines.
Nicholas, the bishop, died on December 6 in the year 343.

Wishing all a memorable and happy Advent and Christmas.
