Introduction

The Q is never certain as to how many pax will show up. I know I’d be in trouble if I had too many. Fortunately, this was not the case.

Warm-O-Rama

Grassgrabbers – 10ct ic

Indian run – figure-eight path around the parking lot and the church. 1st position rifle carries their coupon, last man shuffles to front and then assumes rifle carry position and signals to the back guy to move. Once #1 becomes #2, coupon can be carried in the resting position (waist or shoulder).

The Thang

Groups of three.
P1 pushes pallet with coupon from north side of the church to south side of the church (middle of hill on north side, to base of hill on south side). Upon arrival, switch roles with P3.

P3 remains at the starting location on north side and performs three exercises:
– Lunges – 20ct, 1 is 1
– Freddie Mercury – 20 ct, 2 is 1
– Recovery run to northwest corner of lot and back (approx 75m)
(Repeat the sequence until pallet returns, and then switch rolls with P2 and push pallet to south side)

P2 starts on south side of church and performs three exercises:
– Merkins – 20ct
– Flutter kicks – 20ct, 2 is 1
– Recovery run to southwest corner of lot and back (approx 57m)
(Repeat the sequence until pallet arrives, and then switch roles with P1 and push pallet to north side)

P1, P2, P3 continue this rotation until Q calls time.

Naked Man Moleskin

Today was my first exposure to pushing the pallet. It’s hard, but tantalizing. Our pallet push started on a hill, so the initial effort is uphill. At first, I couldn’t budge the pallet. I figured at 153lbs, I didn’t have enough girth to move the thing, but with a concentrated power push the pallet moved 18 inches as my Fila footwear struggled for traction. I gave it all I had. 18 inches. That was it. And I had to move this thing about 75m. I made a second power push. Another foot-and-a-half gained. And again. I figured this was it. This was the way Astro was going to move this pallet. Undeterred, I kept at it and as I approached the top of the hill, the friction eased and my bursts turned into forward momentum. And that’s when I needed to take a rest. Fortunately, when I resumed the task, the sled was sliding for me (not with ease, but moving steadily ahead).

Sometimes these hard things turn into physical cravings. It’s a foe I want to slay. A new challenge to overcome. I look forward to revisiting this workout at The Rock.
